A while ago now I made a little program in Visual Basic. It basically shuts down (or restarts / logs off) your local Windows PC after a preset time period. I figured it a useful feature when I found Vista's native ability was limited to something stupid; 10 minutes I think.

Dean's Crap is a super special secret section. If you don't know what it is, then you have no need to click the link. You do have to log in, so it's really not worth it!
See my Crap
I realised I didn't mention my pride and joy on my site! I spend what is probably an unhealthy percentage of my time using of tinkering with my... computer (tut tut to the filthy minded of you out there). I feel the need to share my spec, and seeing as this is my site, I shall do just that! It's a CoolerMaster CM960 nVidia Edition case, a Core i5 2500K @ 3.3GHz (only running at stock for now, need to get hold of a cooler, and that's the SandyBridge version). I've got 4 GB RipjawsX DDR3. And the heart of my games- a 1024MB GDDR5; nVidia GTX 560 Ti. I've got that hooked up to a 32" LG LCD TV, a Sherwood A/V Receiver, and a pair of Eltax Monitor 3 Speakers. It's a nice setup! :D
So I'm a psychology student... I work part-time. I could go on but I see little point. This site exists pretty much because I wanted my own name as my e-mail domain; and it gives me a chance to fiddle around with html and css. If you do feel the need to investigate me further, here are links to me around the web.

So you may be wondering what the point of this site is; and to be honest it really doesn't have one. I wanted my own domain simply for the e-mail account. I do like to fiddle casually with web design; I do know basic html, css, some asp, and I've recently discovered a little php (using mysql). As it stands this site houses a small piece of software I made a while back, a blog, a psychological experiment (my second year project), and a working login system! The experiment repertoire may increase, as I do like the idea of reinventing interesting experiments I come accross for computers and/or the web.
So I have a blog. It's amazing and everything; and has recently been rewritten. Below you can see some of the amazing things I rant about. If you click the headings of any of those little sections below you can read the entire post. For the entire selection of random rants and such, click the link.

This post needs a little backstory. I store all my stored music and video (and other) content on a NAS device (LG N2R1). I chose to do this so that I could stream / access my files on my ethernet connected desktop pc, my wireless laptop pc, over the internet via a web browser, and importantly via my media player (Emprex ME1) when I'm in bed. Now I've relatively recently moved to a Spotify subscription, and incredibly recently opted to subscribe to Netflix (since their UK launch). As it stands I currently access all of my videos via the Windows File Sharing / Samba protocol.

"Red in tooth and claw" is how evolution and the theory of natural selection dictate we should behave. Current prevailing thought is to identify survival tactics in relation to the gene, therefore it should be that human beings (as agents of their genes) strive to effectively cleanse the gene pool of evidently maladaptive genes. This would imply that we actively seek to rid the world of genes responsible for many detrimental disorders; such as PKU and HD, however instead of such behaviour, or even simply placing restrictions on their right to procreate, we allow such disorders to swim happily ...
